We love cloth diapers for their many benefits. But after speaking with many cloth-diapering parents, we realized they were still buying disposable diapers for certain occasions, such as holidays and drop-offs with grandparents.
Charlie Banana® diapers are a “2-in-1” reusable diaper system. It’s a cloth diaper but with a smart front panel that gives you the option of tucking in a disposable pad for those special occasions.
With Charlie Banana® diapers, you get the best of both diaper worlds!
What makes them so special?
Charlie Banana® One Size or Size diapers are a 2-in-1 system. You can use washable inserts or disposable inserts. It's a diaper with options!
We recommend you stuff the inside with reusable inserts. However, we know there are times when you need to be able to use a disposable insert, for instance while traveling or when leaving your child with someone unaccustomed to cloth diapers.
Sized versus One Size?
Some mothers prefer the Sized Diapers because no adjustments are needed and they always fit perfectly.
This is especially true for the size Small diapers. Many babies are very tiny at birth and it can be hard to fit a One Size diaper snugly.
To start, we recommend getting a couple of Sized and One Size diapers to see what you like best, and then add more of your favorite styles and colours as you wish.
Every baby is different and it is really a personal preference.
They are both great diapers. Really!!

I just love these diapers! They are my favorite of all the CD that I own. They fit really trim which I love because the other kinds I've tried with the snap down rise are bulky especially on a younger baby and we have never had a leak with these! Fabric is really soft also.

Bulky + Leaky
I was really disappointed by these diapers! Of all my diapers (bum genius, kawaii, flats, flips etc.), these are the only ones that always seem to leak. Plus they are HUGE and create a very bulky/fluffy butt! While the crotch may be narrow, the absorbency is made up by the ridiculous thickness of the insert. It's like a rolled up towel between her legs--truly absurd. Right now these are at the bottom of the diaper bag for emergencies, but I'm seriously considering getting rid of them altogether.

I've been using Charlie Bananas for 3 months. Before that I used a diaper service. I have a daughter so the stuffing and emptying in the front pocket does not bug me. I think the liners are the most absorbent that I own. The directions recommend two inserts after 4 months of age, but I can still use just 1 for my 9-month old. They are trim fitting and the leg, bra-like adjustment is clever and doesn't scare off sitters since there aren't so many snaps! My stash is small so I wash about every day and a half and they have held up very well so far.
I will be buying more!

These were the first cloth diapers I purchased and I was so disappointed! My baby has chunky thighs and still every single time he wore one he leaked. They are also super annoying to stuff. The crotch area is very narrow. I would recommend kawaii or bumgenius over these! Don't waste your money.

We used these starting at three months. They fit a little poofy. The sides would sort of bubble out, making it look funny. CB's swim diapers also do the same thing. Unfortunately, I got rid of these after a few months, bc they are harder to stuff than other pocket diapers. They have a more narrow crotch area, and the inserts barely fit. Also, the inserts are not contoured in the middle like other brands. Another thing to consider is that the pocket opening is in the front. With boys, it's very unpleasant pulling the wet inserts out, bc most of the wetness is in the front. With back pocket openings on other brands, you rarely run into this problem. It is nice, however, that these have two hip snaps + a crossover snap (which is on the left, rare, good for me since I'm a lefty).
